EU (European Union) certification is a certification developed by the US Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). It was created in response to the Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) crisis, and is part of an international strategy to eradicate food-borne epidemics.
EU certification requires that all animal products used in pet food be derived from animals declared fit for human consumption. This provides VeRUS pet owners a level of guarantee that no fallen animals or 4D meats are used in the production of our products.
Meat Byproducts -- such as heads, feet, lungs, and bones--are poorly digested, increasing the demands on pets' kidneys. (Kidney failure is the second largest killer of older dogs.) We only use proteins fit for the family table.
Processed grains--such as brewers rice, ground rice, and wheat flour -- are empty calories that contribute to excess weight gain and diabetes. We used nutrient-rich whole brown rice and oats instead.
The average dog consumes six to nine pounds of chemical additives a year in its diet, and many of these additives are not approved for human consumption. We use a natural preservative-- Vitamin E-- to keep our pet food fresh for up to 15 months.
